The Annual SAGE-AU Trivia night was held on Wednesday night this week as part of the Annual Conference activities.
The night was sold out, with those who attended fed with a variety of Lebanese food, entertained by a Lebanese bellydancer, and still having to think hard to answer the questions. In Adelaide we raised money for a local charity to assist the homeless there - and this year we did the same, raising money for the Smith Family. The money was raised through a variety of ways, including a few rounds of Heads & Tails and the ability halfway through the night to "buy" points for your table to become equal first. Heads & Tails and the point purchases raised over $725, while IIT Training contributed the balance to enable us to present The Smith Family with a cheque for $1000.00. A representative from the Smith Family attended the Annual General Meeting to receive the cheque. The money will go to assist those who are most at risk of becoming homeless, and towards their 'learning for life' program. Information about the Smith Family can be found at http://www.smithfamily.com.au/ I'd like to thank Steven Plunkett (SAGE-AU & National Exec member) for putting together yet another fantastic set of Trivia Questions for the night and for being our Quizmaster, IIT Training (a SAGE-AU supporter - http://www.iit-training.com.au/ )for topping up the donation to $1000.00, and all those who were at the night who contributed to the success of it. Thank you. Helping those less fortunate than ourselves is always a noble cause, and I'm glad that SAGE-AU has been able to assist the Smith Family this year. If other members would like to contribute to their good works, you can find details of how to do so on their website.
