Call for interested parties to submit training and presentation proposals for SAGE-AU 2010
18th Annual System Administrators' Conference (SAGE-AU 2010
Hobart, 9th-13th August 2010
SAGE-AU was formed to advance the profession of System Administration by raising awareness of the need for System Administrators, and educating System Administrators in technical as well as professional issues. Our yearly conference provides a forum for System Administrators of all platforms and levels of experience to gather together and share their experiences. Further it provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with acknowledged experts in the field.
SAGE-AU 2010 will be held in Hobart from the 9th-13th August 2010.
The theme this year is "Doing more with less" and talks or classes holding to this theme are particularly welcomed.
Training Program: 9th - 11th August
SAGE-AU 2010 will include three days of training sessions.
Training covers technical, professional and business areas, and provides attendees with unique opportunities for skill attainment and development. The focus of training classes is on skills, techniques and principles of direct relevance to System Administrators.
Past years have included training in topics as diverse as:
- Automating Windows
- Change Management
- Unix Infrastructure Design
- Management
For 2010, we are seeking proposals for half-day (3 hours) and full-day (6 hours) classes. Proposals should include:
- A short (up to 200 word) description of the proposed content
- Your name, e-mail address and a brief summary of your experience relevant to the class being proposed.
Proposals should be sent in plain text (no attachments) to conf2010-training @ sage-au.org.au
The nominal closing date for submissions is 17th March 2010. with provisional notification of acceptance by 27th March 2010. SAGE-AU reserves the right to modify these dates.

Technical Program: 12th - 13th August
The SAGE-AU 2010 Technical Program will be run as two parallel streams of talks, with streams joining for keynote and plenary sessions. Attendees may move between streams in the technical program, attending the sessions most relevant to their roles. The theme for SAGE-AU 2010 is "Doing more with Less".
Recent times have seen economic and technological changes that affect how System Administrators carry out their work, in both positive and not-so-positive ways. What are your experiences?
Have you found a new/novel/different way to do more with less?
Is there a particular technology or approach which has revolutionised how you perform System Administration?
SAGE-AU is looking for talks and papers addressing the theme and other issues relevant to System Administration.
Previous years have included talks on topics such as:
- Security
- Wireless Networks
- System Administration Ethics
- Virtualisation
- Standards (and Compliance)
