Classes of Membership
Members are accepted from people who are currently or previously employed as a System Administrator, learning to become one, or in a closely related position.
Currently, we offer three types of membership. Trial membership for a six-month period is available to new members.
Individual
- a Systems Administrator, whether currently so employed, previously so employed, in the process of learning the profession, or in an otherwise closely related position, entitled to vote in Guild elections.
Associate
- a Systems Administrator, whether currently so employed, previously so employed, in the process of learning the profession, or in an otherwise closely related position but ineligible for Individual membership for various reasons. (i.e. Non-Australian residency status or not directly System Administration related). This class of membership is not entitled to vote in Guild elections.
Student
- a full-time student, whether interested in or in the process of learning about or becoming a System Administrator. Proof of full-time studies must accompany the membership application. This class of membership is not entitled to vote in Guild elections.
SAGE-AU is the Australian professional society for system administrators. As such, we are specifically oriented towards individual membership rather than institutional membership. Whilst we are very happy to have companies sponsor their employee's membership into SAGE-AU, it is an important distinction that the actual membership belongs to that individual, and is not controlled by the employer, nor transferable between staff.
