Storage and Backup Innovations

This session will discuss recent innovations in the storage and backup market that are designed to save administrators time and money. These innovations include solid state drives, spin down, virtual provisioning, data de-duplication and single instance storage. As an example, I will show how an Australian customer was able to reduce their full backups from 1.5TB to 150GB and from 6 hours to 30 minutes using some of these new technologies.

Routing and Security Platforms
Lachlan Kidd - Cisco
This presentation will focus on two main areas. Firstly, an update on new ISR routing platforms (ISR 880 and 860), IOS features and deployment scenarios. Secondly, the ASA 5580 is a 10Gbps firewall, capable of high level security functions at wire rate. This presentation will cover platform details, software features and deployment guidelines.

Lachlan has been with Cisco for 3.5 years, focusing on higher education and specializing in routing and switching, security and data center. He has 10 years experience working for a number of systems integrators as a pre and post sales engineer and an R&D organization developing cryptographic products. Lachlan holds a BEng (Hons) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Swinburne University and is CCIE #8250.

Michael recently joined Red Hat as a Solution Architect where he provides Solution support for Red Hat's top tier customers.
